THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON WAIVER APPLICATION
Prior to the regular Chicago Board of Education meeting, a Public Hearing will be held at 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 for a waiver application to allow CPS more flexibility in planning the school calendar by scheduling full day school improvement days.
CPS seeks to renew its waiver application for Section 10-19.05 of the Illinois School Code to allow for school calendar planning flexibility for full school improvement days.
To protect the public’s health in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as permitted by Governor Pritzker’s Disaster Proclamation, which is currently in effect, the public will have access to the hearing via live stream at cpsboe.org, and the public participation will be held via an electronic platform.
For this Public Hearing, advance registration to speak will be available beginning Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 10:30 am and will close on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 5:00 pm, or until all ten (10) slots have been filled, or whichever comes first. Advance registration during this period is available by the following methods:
- Online: www.cpsboe.org (recommended)
- Phone: (312) 989-7313
The Public Participation segment of the Public Hearing will conclude after the last person who has registered to speak has spoken, or at 9:30 a.m. whichever occurs first. Staff members are encouraged to participate.
Members of the public may submit written comments related to these waiver applications via the Written Comments Form on the Board’s website at www.cpsboe.org or mailed to 1 N Dearborn, Suite 950 by 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
