Dr. Rafael Yáñez

Rafael Yáñez is a product of the Chicago Public Schools. He attended the City Colleges of Chicago until he transferred to the Law Enforcement Administration Bachelor's program and Public Safety Management Master’s program at Calumet College of St. Joseph. Dr. Yáñez holds a Doctorate in Education in Organizational Leadership. Aside from beat cop, Officer Yáñez, has worked in various capacities within the Chicago Police Department during the last 21 years.
Dr. Yáñez founded U.N.I.O.N. Impact Center in 2007, a nonprofit organization which successfully offers youth and families from the South West Side of Chicago training and programs in sports, art, job skills, health, and community involvement. Rafael also has experience participating in Local School Councils (LSC), the most recent LSC he joined was Back of Yards College Preparatory High School. He is an alumni from the Latino Policy Forum Multi-Cultural Leadership Academy and the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago Civic Leadership Academy.
